Dhaka:  A Dhaka court on Sunday again rejected the bail petition of a Private TV journalist Rakibul Islam Mukul in a case filed for torturing his wife for dowry.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchona passed the order on Sunday when his counsel filed a petition for his bail for the third time.

On 26 June, police arrested Rakibul Islam alias Mukul, news editor of Gtv, from the city’s Segunbagicha area in a case filed for torturing his wife for dowry.

Later, he was produced before the court on 27 June when the court put him on a one-day remand.

On 28 June, a Dhaka court sent the journalist to jail after rejecting his bail petition.

Naznin Akter Tonni, a senior reporter of Daily Janakantha and wife of Mukul, filed a case with Mirpur Police Station on charge of torturing her for dowry on 25 June.
