Dhaka: The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday adjourned the hearing on the appeal lodged by Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury against the order of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 2, till 26 July.
A four-member AD panel led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha deferred the hearing allowing a time plea from Taufik Hossain, counsel for Zafrullah.
The second tribunal on 10 June sentenced Chowdhury to a simple sentence of imprisonment for one hour and fined him Taka five thousand, in default one moth imprisonment.
The contemnor filed an appeal against the ICT 2 order that fined him, and on 16 June AD Chamber Judge Justice Hasan Foez Siddique stayed the order and sent it to the full bench for further hearing.
Meanwhile, on Sunday the ICT 2 again summoned Zafrullah for allegedly committing contempt of court again. It is the third time that he is facing the tribunals for the same reason.
