Dhaka: A trader was shot to death by miscreants in the Dhaka’s Matuail area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victim is Mojibur Rahman, in his forties, a resident of Kajirgaon Mridhabari in Matuail.

Sayedur Rahman, elder brother of the victim, said Mojibur Rahman had cable business in Nababpur road but he had not gone there for the last one month.

He was owner of two houses—one six-storey building and another two-storey building. He was residing at the two-storey building behind the six-storey building, Sayedur said.

Sayedur who resides in another area said family members found Mojibur outside the building with bullet injuries early in the morning and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 5:30am.

Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muntashirul Islam said the security guard of the house was found on the rooftop of the building with his hands tied.

Reason behind the killing could not be ascertained immediately, he added.

The body was kept in the morgue of the hospital for post-mortem examination.
