Savar: In yet another incident of mob beating, a few days after killing of a minion boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, a man was beaten to death by the local people on a theft charge in Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) area of Ashulia in Savar in the early hours of Tuesday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately after the incident.

The Ashulia police said local people held the man and beaten him while he was trying to steal electric wires in the area.

Later, police recovered the man and took him to Enam Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Earlier, on 11 July night, a video footage—which showed Samiul Alam Rajon was tortured to death by the mob for allegedly stealing at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city on 8 July—triggered an outcry.

The 28-minute video clip showed two people beating Rajon mercilessly after tying him up with a pole at the workshop.

It assumed that a group of 5-6 people were involved in the torture.

The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet.

The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which caused an outcry.
