Sylhet: A Sylhet court on Tuesday placed accused Ismail Hossain Ablus to five-day police custody following a police request to question for torturing Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon to death on July 8.

Judge Farhana Yeasmin of the Judicial Magistrate Court no 2 issued the order after police produced Ismail before her court seeking a seven-day police custody to quiz the accused.

Earlier, police arrested Ismail Hossain Ablu, believed to be 32, cousin of the prime accused Muhit Alam, from Lamakaji Mirergaon area under Jalalabad police station in the city early Monday in connection with the murder of teenage boy Rajon.

Another accused Quamrul Islam, in his twenties, brother of the main accused, Muhit Alam in the killing case was held in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on Monday.

Muhit was arrested while trying to dump the body of Rajon on Wednesday, while Muhit’s wife Lipi Begum arrested on Monday.

The 13-year-old boy, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in sadar upazila, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city on July 8.

The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet.

The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which caused an outcry.

The video footage of the teenage boy being brutally tortured has triggered an outcry on Sunday.

Jalalabad police filed a case against four people, including Muhit, Quamrul Islam, Ali Haider alias Ali and Mia alias Boro Moyna in this connection.

Rajon died of brain haemorrhage following the torture, said the autopsy report on Monday.
