Dhaka: A young man was shot to death in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members at Agargaon in Dhaka in the early hours of Thursday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
RAB 2 headquarters officials said a team of the elite force challenged some young men in the area while they were staying there at about 2:30 am.

Later, the group members opened fire to the elite force, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.

 During the gunfight, a young man, aged about 25, of the group received severe bullet injuries while his other associates managed to flee.

Dhaka Medical College police post in-charge Mozammel Haque said the bullet-hit man to hospital at about 4:30am where doctors declared him dead.

Two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight.

RAB also recovered two firearms and several rounds of bullet from the spot.
