Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday greeted all the Muslims of Bangladesh and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and wished them Eid Mubarak.

In an Eid-ul-Fitr message, Khaleda Zia, also a former Prime Minister said, ‘The Eid-ul-Fitr has come with a message of ecstatic joy after observing fasting for a month. It’s the biggest festival of the Muslim community.’

She said this religious festival becomes an event for getting together of people of all walks of life with enthusiasm putting aside divisions among them. ‘The festival brings people of all strata -- poor, rich and elite alike - on one line.’

Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh either on Saturday or Sunday subject to the appearance of the Shawal moon.

Khaleda Zia said Eid-ul-Fitr sends out a message to the mankind that ‘we all are for all’.

‘As Muslims it’s our duty to extend our helping and sympathetic hands to the deprived, neglected and relatively poor people of society,’ she said.

On the Eid day, Khaleda Zia will exchange greetings with eminent citizens and foreign diplomats at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

She will first exchange pleasantries with the heads of diplomatic missions from 11:30am to 12:15pm, and later with eminent citizens from 12:15pm to 1:15pm.

BNP standing committee members and senior leaders will be present.
