Dhaka: A man was hacked to death allegedly by his drug addict son in the city’s Turag area on Friday.

The victim is Abul Hashem, in his sixties, of Kamlakhada in Netrokona.

He was a grocery shop owner in Board Bazaar area of Gazipur and also a resident in the same area.

Relatives said Abul Hashem’s son Abdul Malek alias Manik, in his twenties, went to one of his uncle’s house at Baunia Purbapara in Turag by his father’s motorcycle on Thursday night.

Later, Abul Hashem went to the relative’s house and wanted his motorcycle back from his son, leading to an altercation between the father and the son.

At one stage, Manik hacked his father with a sharp weapon at about 4:00 pm.

He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead at about 5:50 pm.

The victim’s son has been absconding since the incident.
