Comilla: Three people including a man and his son were killed and 16 others injured in separate road accidents in Burichang and Chandina upazilas of the district on Saturday.

In Burichang, a man and his son were crushed under the wheels of a speeding bus at Debpur on Comilla-Burichang Regional highway at Debpur in Burichang upazila on Saturday.

The deceased are Azharul Islam, in his forties, and his son Nur Morshed, 9, hailing from Rampur village in the upazila.

Mainamati Highway Police sub-inspector Amar Chandra confirmed the incident saying a Comilla-bound bus hit the father and the son on the regional highway at about 9:00am, leaving them dead on spot.

In Chandina, a woman was killed and 16 others injured as a bus turned turtle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Kutumbopur on Saturday.

The deceased is Hasu Begum, 50.

Hasu Begum used to beg in the upazila for her living.

Eliotganj Highway police sub-inspestor Monirul Islam said a Dhaka-bound bus of Hanif Paribahan from Chittagong overturned after its driver lost control over the steering at about 7:00am, leaving Hasu Begum dead on the spot and 16 others injured.
