Ruhul remanded in police custody

Dhaka: A Sylhet court has remanded Ruhul Amin in police custody for seven days in the case filed in connection with the brutal killing of Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, a minor boy, in Kumargaon area of the city on 8 July.
Judge Anwarul Haque of the Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order on Sunday after police produced Ruhul before his court seeking 10 days for quizzing, said Sylhet Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Abdul Ahad, reported UNB.
Police arrested Ruhul Amin, brother-in-law of Ali Haider, a suspect named in the FIR of the gruesome killing case, from Tuker Bazar on the outskirts of the city on 18 July.
Ruhul allegedly helped Ali Haider hide the body of Rajon and later tried to intimidate Rajon’s father to stop him from filing a case in connection with the murder.
Earlier on 17 July, police arrested Ali Haider from Sheikhpara in the city.
With the arrest of Ruhul, nine people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder.
On 8 July, the 13-year-old boy, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon was brutally tortured to death over a theft allegation at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city.
The killers themselves recorded the incident and uploaded the video on internet.
The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site YouTube which triggered a widespread outcry.
