‘The rogue took bribe to help killer flee’
A police officer, taking bribe, helped one killer of Samiul Alam Rajon to flee, claims finance Minister AMA Muhith.
He said ‘A rogue police officer, certainly taking bribe, helped the killer to flee.’
The Finance Minister made the claim while talking with journalist at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
One of the accused Kamrul Islam left the country just after the day Rajon was killed.
Allegations were brought against Jalalabad police sub-inspestor Aminul Islam that he helped Kamrul to flee after taking Tk 6,00,000. Kamrul fled to his workplace in Saudi Arabia. Bangladesh Consulate General, with the help of Bangladeshi expatriates in Jeddah, detained him on 13 July.
Muhith said ‘The family that killed Rajon is a rogue one. I was angry over the stand of the local people who did not do anything during the incident. It is not that Rajon died because of beating, rather, it was a planned killing.’
The 13-year-old boy, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet on 8 July.
The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet.
The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which caused an outcry.
Local people caught one of the accused Muhith Alam who was trying to hide Rajon’s body and handed him over to the police.
Rajon’s father filed a murder case against four people, including Muhit, his brother Quamrul Islam, 24, their associate, Ali Haider alias Ali, 34, and guard Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45, in this connection.
Later, Muhith’s relative Ismail Hossain, two instigators who witness the incident Ajmat Ullah and Firoz Ali, guard Moyna Mia, Dulal, Nur Ahmed who captured the scene on mobile phone, and Ali Hayder were arrested from different parts of the city for their alleged involved in the incident.
On Monday, Moyna Mia confessed to his involvement in the killing of Rajon.
