Narayanganj: A review petition has been filed against a court order that rejected the no-confidence petition against the chargeshhet in a case filed in connection with the sensational seven murders.

Selina Islam Beauty, widow of Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, one of the victims of the gruesome killing, filed the review petition with the court of district and sessions judge Syed Enayet Hossain on Tuesday.

The court is likely to hear the petition on 9 August.

On 8 July, the district court accepted the chargesheet rejecting the no-confidence petition filed by Selina Islam Beauty.

On 11 May, Selina Islam filed the petition expressing her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the names of five FIR-enlisted accused from the charge-sheet.

On 8 April, detectives pressed charges against 35 people, including the three sacked Rab officials and Nur Hossain, now in an Indian jail, in connection with the seven murders.

After the murder of seven people, Selina Islam filed a case against six people while Advocate Chandan Sarkar’s son-in-law filed another case.

On 27 April, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj.

Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at District Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.

Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on 30 April. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river.
