Dhaka: War crimes accused Mohammad Abdul Latif Talukder of Bagerhat died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the early hours of Tuesday.
He was 75 years old.
DMCH authorities said Latif, who had long been suffering from old age complications, breathed his last at about 3:30am.
Latif Talukder was a resident of Sholakia village of Kochua upazila in Bagerhat district.
On 23 June, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 1 concluded the hearing of arguments from both sides on the trial of 1971 war crimes allegedly committed by three men of Bagerhat, including Abdul Latif, and kept its verdict pending for any day.
The two others accused are Sheikh Sirajul Islam and Khan Akram Hossain.
The trio war criminals are facing seven charges, including killing, mass killing, torture and arson attack, during the War of Independence.
The tribunal on 5 November 2014 framed charges against the three accused for their involvement in crimes against humanity during the war.
On 11 June, 2014, Latif was captured by police after the tribunal issued a warrant for his arrest upon a petition moved by the prosecution.
