Salahuddin Quader appeal verdict Wednesday

Dhaka: The Appellate Division will deliver on Wednesday its judgement on the appeal filed by death-row convict BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury challenging his death sentence for crimes against humanity during the Independence War.
A four-member bench of Supreme Court led by chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha will deliver the verdict. The other members of the bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique.
Earlier, on 7 July the SC bench after conducting hearing of the appeal set the date for delivering the appeal verdict.
Advocate Khandekar Mahbub Hossain and Advocate SM Shahjahan were presented during the hearing on behalf of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury while prosecution lawyer was attorney general Mahbube Alam.
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 1 on 1 October 2013 ruled that Salauddin Quader Chowdhury should be put to death for his crimes during the War of Independence in 1971. The tribunal found Salauddin guilty on nine of 23 charges of crimes against humanity during the War in 1971.
On 29 October, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury submitted appeal against the verdict and sought release from the charges.
