Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday said the government will form a body similar to the Public Service Commission (PSC) to transparently appoint teachers to educational institutions.

‘There’re allegations of irregularities in teacher recruitment…we’re trying to stop corruption in teacher recruitment,’ he told reporters during Deputy Commissioners Conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Nahid said the new body will recruit teachers following proper recruitment procedures where nobody will find any scope of influencing the recruitment process, as it will help check nepotism and malpractice.

He said many issues relating to education were discussed during the conference on Tuesday and the deputy commissioners put forward some recommendations to improve the standard of education.

The Education Minister said the DCs informed that many on-duty teachers during examinations help students solve multiple choice questions (MCQs) and there will be strong monitoring to check it.

‘Tougher actions will be taken against the teachers to be found guilty of such malpractice ....I’ve asked DCs to strengthen the monitoring in this regard,’ he added.

Nahid said the DCs pointed out that examination hall crisis hamper the scheduled classes of institutions during examinations.
