Verdict fulfils people’s anticipation: Minister

Dhaka: Law Minister Anisul Haque expressed his satisfaction at the verdict of Supreme Court, which upheld the capital punishment for war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury on Wednesday.
The minister said, ‘I am satisfied with the verdict. The verdict fulfilled the expectation of the country’s people.’
Anisul Haque told NTV Online, ‘People were anxious about the verdict as he is notorious criminal. Supreme Court’s verdict on the appeal of Salahuddin Ahmed proved that no one is beyond the law.’
The law minister said the process of execution will be started after receiving the full verdict of the court.
Earlier, on Wednesday morning, a four-member appellate division bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha dismissed an appeal petition and upheld the death sentence awarded to Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.
