Primary evidence validates salesgirl’s gang-rape

Dhaka: Medical tests have found primary evidence of gang-rape after examining capital’s Uttara salesgirl, as law enforcers held three suspects over the case.
Doctors at the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) conducted the medical tests on Saturday.
Dr Bilkis Begum, co-coordinator of DMCH’s One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC), said the primary evidence of rape of the woman has been found in the forensic test.
She said they will have the complete report after conducting other tests, including DNA test and X-ray.
Meanwhile, three persons have been arrested for their suspected link in the gang-rape. On Friday night police held one Arif who was reported to be a co-worker of the victim.
The rest of the two, Babu and Aslam, both whom were in their twenties, were held by Rapid Action Battalion.
Security officials said the detainees had been placed before the court in Saturday morning.
The victim filed a case against three people with Uttara Police (West) on Friday night.
According to the case statement, the victim, who worked at a chain superstore at Azampur in the city’s Uttara, were gang-raped on Thursday night by her fellow worker and his two cohorts.
Later, the victim was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by her brother-in-law.
