Man held carrying 1.4kg gold at Dhaka airport

Dhaka: Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recovered 12 gold bars weighing around 1.4 kg and detained a passenger on Saturday.
The detainee was identified as Abdul Hakim, 37, hailing from Kishoreganj district. He landed at the airport from Saudi Arabia by a Saudi Airlines flight at about 3:00pm on Friday.
Hakim left the airport on Friday with one of his luggage missing. He came to the airport again on Saturday to receive the luggage from ‘the lost and found section’ at the airport, said Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Riyadul Islam.
When he was about to cross the green channel around 4:30pm, custom officials challenged him, said the customs official.
After searching his luggage, the customs officials recovered 12 gold bars, which were kept hidden inside the lock of the baggage, he added.
