Dhaka: Two more minor girls have allegedly been raped at Hazaribagh and Mirpur areas in Dhaka as there seems no end to the nefarious act.

Police arrested one in connection with the Hazaribagh incident.

Both the minor victims are undergoing treatment at the One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Sources at the DMCH said a nine-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour at Pirerbagh in Mirpur at about 3:00pm on Saturday.

Victim’s parents informed police after they came to know about the incident. Later, she was taken to the OCC at about 2:40am on Sunday.

Contacted, sub-inspector Matiur Rahman of Mirpur Police Station said the culprit went into hiding after the incident came to light. We are trying to arrest him’he said.

Earlier at about 11:00am on Saturday, another minor girl, aged 7, was raped allegedly by a neighbour of the victim, at Rayerbazar under Hazaribagh Police Station.

Being informed, police launched a drive and arrested the accused person from the area. They also took the girl to the DMCH OCC at about 5:10am on Sunday.

A Dhaka court placed the arrestee on police custody for two days when police produced him before the court on Sunday.
