Sechwasebak League leader found dead

Lakshmipur: Body of a Sechwasebak League leader, who was reportedly went missing eight days ago, was recovered inside a sack at Payerapur area in the Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The sack was found in a Water Development Board canal.
Badsha Mia, father of the 28-year-old leader, identified the body of his son in district hospital.
Deceased Khorshed Alam was the joint convener of Lakshmipur Municipality Sechwasebak League and used to live in Samserabad area in the town.
Police claimed that Khorshed Alam was a listed offender. He had been accused in several cases over various offences, including killing. robbery, rape etc.
Family said Khorshed was picked up by Sadar Police sub-inspector Afsar Uddin from the court premises on 29 July. He was missing since then.
The family lodged complaints with the police and detective polices, but they failed to give whereabouts of Khorshed.
The family at a press conference on Sunday urged the authorities concerned to take septs to recover the leader.
Lakshmipur police assistant police superintendent Nasim Mia brushed aside the complaint that police had taken Khorshed in.
Rivalry between two groups of the offenders might have triggered the murder, the officer said.
