President off to Vietnam
Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid left Dhaka on Friday for Vietnam with a stopover in Thailand on a six-day state visit at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang.
A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President and his wife Rashida Khanom departed for Bangkok from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 11:45am, said president’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.
During the visit, the President is expected to have a meeting with President Truong Tan Sang on 10 August morning. The Vietnamese President is scheduled to host a dinner in hounour of Bangladesh President.
Abdul Hamid is also expected to hold a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the same day. The President will also visit National Assembly House of Vietnam on the day and is scheduled to hold meeting with chairman of National Assembly House Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The General Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam are scheduled to make separate courtesy calls on President Abdul Hamid during the visit.
Bangladesh community is expected to meet President Abdul Hamid at Ho Chi Minh City.
The President is scheduled to return home on 13 August.
The visit is expected to further deepen the cordial and cooperative relations and strengthen the ties of friendship, trust, trade and investment between the two countries.
