Dudu released from jail
Dhaka: Over six months into his arrest, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu, also the party chairperson’s advisor, was freed from prison on bail on Friday.
The BNP leader walked out of Kashimpur prison in Gazipur in the afternoon after release order reached the jail authorities, said BNP headquarters’ media official Shairul Kabir Khan.
Earlier on Thursday appellate division upheld the bail granted by High Court for Dudu in four cases filed on violence charges. A four-member HC bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha issued the order.
On 7 July, a HC bench granted an interim bail for Shamsuzzaman Dudu in seven cases after concluding a hearing on a bail petition.
Later, the prosecution appealed for postponing the bail in four cases.
On 12 January police arrested Shamsuzzaman Dudu in four cases of violence.
