4 killed in Munshiganj road crashes

Munshiganj: Four people were killed and 26 others injured in three road accidents in Sreenagar and Louhajang upazilas on Friday.
In Sreenagar, a bus plunged into a pond at Shologhar on Dhaka-Mawa highway at noon, killing two people and injuring at least 20 others.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Hachara Highway Police Camp In-charge sergeant Mohammad Hasan said the Dohar-bound bus carrying 60 passengers skidded off the road and fell into the roadside pond at about 1:15pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two passengers dead on the spot.
Forty passengers of the bus were rescued by local people.
On information, fire service men and police rushed to the spot and recovered the sunken bus from the pond.
An unidentified young man, in his twenties, was killed and five people were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside beel (water body) at Samashpur in Sreenagar in the morning.
Sergeant Hasan said the Mawa-bound bus of ‘Apan Paribahan’ fell into the water body as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving six people injured.
Later, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries at hospital.
In another accident in Louhajang, motorcyclist Jiaur Rahman, in his thirties,was killed as a pickup van rammed the motorcycle at Shimulia in the morning.
Mawa Police Camp in-charge sub-inspector Yunus Ali confirmed the incident.
