President reaches Vietnam
Hanoi: A red carpet was rolled out at Noi Bai International Airport as President Abdul Hamid arrived in Hanoi on Sunday on a four-day state visit at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang.
On his arrival at the Airport at about 1:45am (local time), the President was received by chairman of President’s office of Vietnam Dao Viet Trung, vice-chairman of Vietnam Women Association Bui Thi Hoa, ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam Shahab Ullah and ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh Nguyen Quang Thuc.
Two girls presented bouquet to President Abdul Hamid and his wife Rashida Khanom. Abdul Hamid was also given a guard of honour at the airport.
Later, the President was taken to Sheraton Hotel Hanoi in a ceremonial motorcade where he will be staying during his visit to the country.
Earlier in the day, Abdul Hamid and his wife Rashida Khanom left Bangkok for Vietnam by a flight of Vietnam Airlines. The President left Dhaka for Bangkok on Friday and made a stopover there.
The Bangladesh President will hold a meeting with the President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang on Monday morning. The Vietnamese President will also host dinner in honour of the Bangladesh President.
Abdul Hamid will also hold a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the same day. The President will also visit National Assembly House of Vietnam on the day and will hold a meeting with chairman of National Assembly House Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam are scheduled to meet the Bangladesh President separately during the visit.
The Bangladesh community living in Vietnam is expected to meet President Abdul Hamid in Ho Chi Minh City.
