Another trial if Felani’s family wants: BSF
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) authority will again try its member, who has been accused of killing the Bangladeshi teenage girl Felani, if the victim’s family wants, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) chief.
The second like trial like the previous one acquitted the accused BSF member Amiya Ghosh who shot Felani on 7 January 2011, leaving her body hanging with the barbed wire fence of Kurigram’s Anantapur border. The picture of Felani’s dead body drew severe criticism from home and abroad prompting Indian authority to launch a trial.
BGB director general Major General Aziz Ahmed said that BSF chief had assured during a recent meeting that Indian authority would file another case against Amiya if Felani’s family lodged a no-confidence petition over the latest trial.
BSF chief also requested that BGB contact Felani’s family and their lawyer in this regard, said Aziz Ahmed on Sunday as he was addressing a press conference at Pilkhana BGB Head Quarter in Dhaka.
A director general-level meeting was held between the border security forces of two countries from 2 August to 6 August in New Delhi.
In the meeting, BGB chief Aziz Ahmed raised the border killing issue demanding bringing border killing rate to zero.
