Bagerhat: A Bagherhat court on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his father over a trivial matter in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat in 2010.

The convict is Badsha Gazi, son of Motahar Ali Gazi and a resident of Manikjanj village of Morelganj upazila. He was tried in absentia.

According to the persecution, Badsha stabbed his father over buying medicine from a shop for his father, leaving him critically injured on 9 February 2010.

Later Motahar died in Amtoli area on his way to hospital.

Another son Mohammad Abdul Haque Gazi filed a case with Morelganj police on the same day.

Badsha went into hiding after the incident.

submitted charge sheet accusing Badsha on 29 June, 2010.

After examining the witnesses and documents, Session’s Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan of Bagerhat court handed down the verdict.
