Order on Zafrullah’s contempt charges 30 Aug
Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) on Monday fixed 30 August for passing the order on contempt of court charges brought against Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury for his derogatory remarks about the tribunal.
A 3-member bench of ICT-2, headed by Justice Obaidul Hasan, fixed the date after a hearing on the petition.
On Sunday, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury filed a mercy petition to the ICT-2 through his counsel for terming three judges of International Crimes Tribunal-2 as “mentally sick”.
On 6 July, a petition was filed with the ICT to bring contempt of court proceedings afresh against Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury for his derogatory remarks about the tribunal.
Several freedom fighters, including Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Monoronjon Ghoshal, and Ganajagaran Manch organizers, filed the petition with the ICT registrar office on the day.
