Dhaka: A leader of Bangabandhu Sainik League, an affiliate organisation of ruling Awami League, was stabbed to death by his rivals in capital’s Kafrul area on Monday night.

The deceased is Mohammod Rubel Mian, general secretary of Sainik League, also a resident Gopalganj.

The Rubel’s elder brother Roman said a group of miscreants, including Mohammod Kamal Hossain, president of Krishok League, Saiful Islam, member of Jubo League’s unit at word no 94 Jubo and one Kala Faruk stabbed Rubel in front of his house at West Kajipara Bank Colony at about 10:00pm.

The attackers fled the scene when Roman and others went to the spot hearing Rubel’s scream.

Rubel was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition at about 11:00pm, where doctor declared him dead at 11:30pm.

The Kafrul police said two people were held in this connection.
