2 ‘Ansarullah men’ held over Niloy murder
Dhaka: Plainclothes officers detained two ‘members of the banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT)’ in Dhaka on Thursday evening in connection with blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam said members of Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Sad Al Nahian from Uttara and Masud Rana from Mirpur area.
He also claimed that the duo is the members of ABT, reported UNB.
On August 7, Niloy was hacked to death by unidentified assailants inside his fourth-floor flat at North Gorhan in the city. He was the fourth Bangladeshi blogger killed so far this year.
On August 10, Joint Commissioner (Detective Branch) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Monirul Islam said the banned Islamic militant outfit ABT might have been involved in the killing of blogger Niloy.
Talking to reporters, the DB official also said there is similarity between the murder of bloggers killed earlier and that of Niloy. “Prima facie, it seems to us that Ansarullah Bangla Team is involved in the Niloy killing.”
