Dhaka: Expressing concern over people’s security at home or outside, Jatiya Party (JP) chairman HM Ershad on Sunday said people are suffering from insecurity as killing of children and torture on women is happening frequently.

He said this at a view-exchange programme with Meherpur district Jatiya Party leaders held at JP Chairman’s Banani office.

He alleged democracy has become ineffective and valueless because of the pressure of the two parties -BNP and Awami League. The country cannot keep going like that; people need an escape from murder, oppression and terrorism.

Ershad said governance was good during the regime of Jatiya Party and people lived in peace then. So people still remember the contribution of JP, said Ershad.

JP secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, its presidium member SM Foysal Chisti and joint-secretary general Shafiqul Islam were also present at the programme.
