Case filed against 18 over Raja murder
Dhaka: A case was filed with Hazaribagh police on Monday night accusing 18 people, including Hazaribagh unit former BCL president Arju, in connection with the teenage boy Raja killing.
Raja, son of Babul Hossain of 46 Ganaktuli in Hazaribagh, was tortured to death allegedly by president of Bangladesh Chhatra League Hazaribagh unit Arju and his associates at Ganaktuli in Hazaribagh area of the city on Monday over theft of a cell phone set.
Meanwhile, Arju was killed in a reported gunfight between his associates and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Hazaribagh in the early hours of Tuesday after his arrest from the area on Monday midnight.
The Hazaribagh police said Reshma Akhter Shabana, elder sister of Raja, filed the case with the police station.
He said 14 people, including Hazaribagh unit BCL president Arju, were included in the First Information Report (FIR) as accused, while four others have been included as unnamed accused in the case.
Raja, 16, son of Babul Hossain of Ganaktuli in Hazaribagh, was reportedly picked up by Arju and his associates from his house and they took him to Arju’s residence on Monday morning alleging that the teenage boy stole his (Arju’s) mobile phone set.
Family members of Raja alleged that Arju along with his associates beat Raja at his house, leaving the boy injured seriously.
They dropped the boy into his house after providing him with first aid at a local clinic, said Ratna, paternal aunt of the victim, on Monday afternoon.
Raja’s family members took him to the DMCH where doctors pronounced him dead at about 5:00pm.
There were marks of torture all over Raja’s body, said the hospital authorities.
