Chittagong: Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested a Union Council (UC) member and seized huge arms and ammunitions from his possession.

The seized ammunitions include one AK 22 rifle, three light guns, three Magazine and nine round bullets. He was arrested at Chankhola village of Satkhania on Monday night, reports BSS.

The detained man was identified as Mahmudul Hoque, 40, a UP member of Auochia Union Council.

A team of CID member launched a drive on Monday evening and arrested him from his residence in connection with a murder case.

The arrested person confessed to the CID men that he had a huge arms and ammunition hidden into a pond near his residence. He also confessed to being involved in various criminal activities, including murder and extortion.

According to his confession CID recovered one AK 22 rifle, three light guns, three Magazine, three knives and nine round bullets from the pond.

A case was filed with Satkhania police in this connection.
