Indictment in Kibria murder case deferred again

Sylhet: A Speedy Trial Tribunal on Tuesday deferred the charge framing in Shah AMS Kibria murder case for the sixth time until 25 August.
Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Makbul Hossain passed the order as police failed to produce sacked mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Arifiul Haque Chowdhury before the court.
Meanwhile, 21 other accused including former state minister for home Lutfuzzaman Babor, JMB leader Mufti Hannan, suspended mayor of Habiganj municipality GK Gaus were present at the courtroom.
The counsel of Ariful Hauqe pleaded for more time saying, Ariful could not appear before the court due to illness.
Former finance minister of the Awami League government Shah AMS Kibria along with four others were killed and many others sustained injuries in grenade attacks on an Awami League rally at Baidderbazar in Habiganj on 27 January 2005.
Later, Habiganj district Awami League general secretary Abdul Majid Khan filed two separate cases with the concerned police station on that night.
