PM off to Delhi to attend funeral of Suvra Mukharjee
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for New Delhi on Wednesday morning to attend the funeral of late Suvra Mukharjee, wife of Indian President Pranab Mukharjee.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 6:00am.
Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Sharan were present at the airport to see the Prime Minister off.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, daughter Saima Hossain Putul and Foreign Minister AH Mahmod Ali.
The flight is expected to reach Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Dehli local time at about 8:00am.
From the airport, the Prime Minister will straight go to Presidential Building in the Indian capital to attend the funeral programme of the late wife of the Indian President.
The Prime Minister is to leave New Delhi for Dhaka local time at about 3:00pm and is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 6:00pm.
Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee, who had been suffering from respiratory illness, passed away at a hospital in Delhi on Tuesday morning at the age of 74.
