Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three lawyers of the Supreme Court on charge of financing armed militant group Sahed Hamza Brigade (SHB) from Dhanmondi area of Dhaka in the early hours of Wednesday.

The arrestees are Barrister Shakila Farzana, daughter of former BNP whip Syed Wahidul Alam, and her two assistants Advocate Liton and Advocate Papon.

RAB 7 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Mifta Uddin said a team of RAB 7 conducted a drive at Dhanmondi 27 near Barrister Shakila’s chamber and arrested the trio when they were coming out of the chamber at about 12:30am.

They were taken to Chittagong and details of the arrest will be informed at a press briefing later, the CO added.
