Sign of govt’s fall evident: Hannan Shah
Dhaka: Stating that the government will be held accountable in the future for the extrajudicial killings, BNP senior leaders ASM Hannan Shah on Saturday said the sign of fall of the Awami League regime is now evident as it has started killing its own party men one after another.
‘Awami League’s golden boys have been killed in the last few days. We don’t support the killing of any people in crossfire. The government has got unnerved due to the ruling party men’s involvement in anarchy and infighting. They’re now hesitating little to kill their own people just to cling to power,’ he said.
The BNP leader further said, ‘Those behind each of the extrajudicial killing can be brought to justice if anybody files cases against them in time.’
He was addressing a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal marking its 35th founding anniversary at Diploma Engineers Institute in Dhaka.
Hannan Shah hoped that BNP will be able to come to power ousting the ruling Awami League within a year. ‘Don’t get upset. We hope to observe the next founding anniversary in free Bangladesh with the Jatiyatabadi force in power.’
He said their chairperson Khaleda Zia will call for a fresh movement in due time.
The BNP leader said the government is carrying out various propagandas against BNP and its movement to make BNP activists disappointed.
‘They [some BNP men] think the movement has failed. But I would like to say that success doesn’t come in one day. We had to carry out movement for nine years to depose autocratic Ershad,’ he added.
