3 lawyers again in police custody

Chittagong: A Chittagong court on Monday put the three detained lawyers, including two of the Supreme Court, on police custody in connection with a case filed with Hathazari Police Station.
Three lawyers are Shakila Farzana, 39, daughter of BNP leader and former whip Syed Wahidul Alam, Hasanuzzaman Liton, 30, hailing from Kushtia and a resident of Mirpur-10, and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, 25.
Hathazari senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Minhaj placed Shakila on a 48-hour police custody from 2:00pm on Monday, while Hasanuzzaman Liton and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon on a 72-hour each when Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) produced them before the court seeking a five-day police custody for each.
They were put on the fresh police custody after they were shown arrested in a case filed with Hathazari Police Station after the arrest of 12 militant suspects from a madrasah of the area on 19 February.
Earlier on 19 August, a court here put the three lawyers on a four-day police custody each in an arms case, a day after their arrest from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on charge of terror financing.
They were shown arrested in an arms case filed in connection with arms recovery from Latmoni hill in Banshkhali upazila on 21 February.
They were sent to jail on Sunday on the expiry of their four-day police custody.
