It’s time to restore party discipline: Suranjit
Dhaka: Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta on Monday underscored the need for restoring discipline in the party and its associate bodies through evoking ideology and values, not by resorting to extrajudicial killings.
‘The time has come to restore discipline in the party through values and ideology, not by following the culture of extrajudicial killing introduced by BNP. And it’s Sheikh Hasina who can do this,’ he said.
Suranjit, also a member of Awami League advisory council, said this while addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Academy at the Institute of Diploma Engineers in the city.
Some ruling party men were killed in ‘crossfires’ by law enforcers following infighting and their alleged involvement in crimes.
Seeking Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to restore discipline, Suranjit advised the party to form a taskforce, including its general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and Tofail Ahmed and Obaidul Quader, to overcome the problem.
