Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man for possession of 270 kgs of explosives from the Karnaphuli area in Chittagong on Monday.

The arrestee is M Umar Faruque, in his thirties.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-7 launched a drive in Uttar Shikolbaha area under Karnaphuli Police Station of the port city at about 2:00pm and arrested Faruque along with the explosives, sources at Rab headquarters said.
