14 Indian fishermen held in Bay

Bagerhat: Members of Bangladesh Navy on Monday arrested 14 more Indian fishermen along with a trawler at Fairway Buoy of the Bay of Bengal under Mongla upazila on charge of trespassing into the Bangladesh territory.
Mongla police officer-in-charge M Belayet Hossain said a patrol team of Navy detained the Indian fishermen while they were netting fish some 90 nautical miles away from the Mongla port.
The Navy members also seized their trawler ‘FV Prova’.
Later, the detainees were handed over to Mongla Police Station and a case was filed against them, added the OC.
The arrested fishermen will be produced before the Bagerhat Judicial Magistrate on Wednesday.
Earlier, on August 3, Navy members arrested 42 Indian fishermen along with three trawlers for entering Bangladesh territory illegally.
