12 rescued while being smuggled to India

Benapole: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive rescued 12 Bangladeshis, including five women and three children, while they were being smuggled to India through Putkhali border point in Benapole on Tuesday night.
All the rescued are from different areas of Gopalganj district.
BGB members said a team of the border security force conducted a driver as they were informed that some Bangladeshi citizens were being trafficked to India through Putkhali border and rescued five women, three children and four men at about 10:00pm.
However, sensing the presence of the BGB personnel, the smugglers fled scene.
The detainees were handed over to Benaplole Port police.
A case was filed with Benapole Port police in this connection.
The detainees will be produced before Jessore court on Wednesday.
