Papiya to be quizzed for 3 days
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday remanded former Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) lawmaker Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya on a 3-day police custody in three violence cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel polices.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan put her on one-day custody in each case after concluding a hearing on the custody petitions.
Police sought a 30-day custody for Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya in the three separate cases.
The court also rejected bail petition of her lawyer Aynul Abedin Mejbah.
All the cases were filed on charges of obstructing police from discharging their duties, carrying out vandalism and torching vehicles during hartal-blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.
