Dhaka: A woman was injured in an acid attack by miscreants at West Matuail at Jatrabari in capital on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Piya Pakhi, in her fifties.

Quoting the victim, Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp assistant sub-inspector Setu Chandra Das said, criminals, including Munna and Shah Alam, two well known extortionists of the area, threw acid on Piya when she was returning home at about 9:30 pm, leaving her injured.

Injured Piya was admitted to the burn unit of DMCH.

Piya had filed a case five months back against Munna and Shah Alam with Jatrabari Police Station for demanding a sum of money from her as toll.
