Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia will sit in an emergency meeting with leaders of the 20-Party Alliance on Sunday evening.

‘The meeting of the 20-Party Alliance will be held at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office at about 7:30pm,’ said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

A 20-Party leader wishing anonymity said the 20-Party leaders will discuss the country’s latest political situation and work out its next course of action.

He said the meeting has been convened to decide whether the alliance will take any harsher movement against the hike in gas and power tariff.

The meeting is also expected to express deep shock over the death of its partner former Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed, also the chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party.
