Dhaka:  A Dhaka court on Sunday issued an arrest warrant against Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Mirza Abbas in two violence cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman issued the warrant at about 11:00am after cancelling bail granted for Mirza Abbas.

Prosecution lawyer Mohammad Hemayet Uddin Khan said court fixed Sunday to file charges in the cases.

Abbas’s counsel Mohiuddin Chowdhury filed a time petition as his client was not present at the court.

Later, the court rejected the time petition and issued an arrest warrant against Abbas.
