Advance train ticket for Eid from 15 Sept

Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets on 15 September for holidaymakers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Railways minister Mujibul Haque announced the decision at a press briefing at Railway Bhaban conference room at about 1:00pm on Thursday.

The railway minister said the tickets for 20 September will be available on 15 September and that for 21 September will be sold on 16 September, tickets for 22 September will be sold on 17 September, and tickets for 23 and 24 September will be available on 18 and 19 September respectively.

The tickets will be available at Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station and Chittagong Railway Station while the return tickets will be sold at Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Lalmonirhat stations.

The return tickets for the journey of 27 September to 1 October will be sold on 23-27 September.

However, railway minister said 10 special trains will run on 22, 23, and 24 September and 27 September to 3 October while four other special trains will be available for the devotees who will attend Eid prayers at Sholakia Eidgah.

Around 138 coaches will be added with 886 regular passenger coaches. A total of 1,024 coaches will provided services to 1.5 lakh home-bound people during the Eid.

Moreover, 224 engines will be attached with 199 regular engines.  

The inter-city trains will not be stopped from 20 September to Eid, added the minister.

Mujibul Haque also cancelled the holidays for the railway employees.

The advance tickets will be sold from 9:00am to 5:00pm. One can buy four tickets at a time.
