One ICT to become inoperative
Dhaka: The government has decided to make one of the two International Crimes Tribunals inoperative.
‘One of the two International Crimes Tribunals will be made inoperative while the other one will run. The decision was taken as the war crimes cases are on the decline,’ Law Secretary ASM M Zahirul Haque told UNB over phone on Thursday.
He, however, the inoperative tribunal will be made operative again if the number of cases increases. ‘The tribunal is not being abolished.’
The secretary said the Law Ministry sent a summary to the President on Thursday in this regard. ‘The Law Ministry will issue a gazette notification in this regard after the President signs the summary,’ he said.
