Sylhet: A minor girl drowned in a water body at Horgouri Majhpara village in South Surma upazila of the district on Thursday noon.

The deceased identified as Sumaiya Begum, 7, daughter of Zahir Mia, a resident of Mujahid Ali’s colony of Horgouri Majhpara village, hailed from Sunamganj district.

Locals said Sumaiya slipped into the water body and drowned when she was playing with her friends on its bank.
