Sirajganj: Police arrested Abdullah Al Mamoon Ripon, Chairman of Shuvagacha Union Council under Kajipur upazila of the district on Firday.

Police arrested him from his Niugibari village home this morning and recovered arms and ammunitions from his possession.

Kajipur police officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said Ripon was an absconding accused in several cases and police arrested him from his village home Niugibari on the basis of warrant of arrest.

Police recovered a rifle, 15 rounds of ammunitions, seven machetes, 11 pieces of Yaba tablets and eight bottles of phensidyl from his possession.

Arrested Ripon is a local BNP leader and several cases are pending against him with different police stations.

A fresh case was filed against him with Kajipur police in this connection.
