Mamata will attend the celebration of International Mother Language Day on February 21. She will visit Nazrul Institute and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial on Friday. She will also visit the Jatiya Sangsad.
According to Times of India, on the ground that the Teesta water sharing treaty does not go with the interest of India, Mamata did not visit Bangladesh when India’s former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh came to Bangladesh in 2011. So the treaty was not signed then. But Mamata is giving importance on this visit to Bangladesh. It seems that she is ready to sign the treaty.
Times of India, quoting Bangladesh government officials, says that there has been talks between Mamata Banerjee and Sheikh Hasina on Teesta water sharing issue. In the three-day visit of Mamata starting from Thursday, the issue of enclaves exchange will also be discussed.
Harshavardhan Neotia, JP Chawdhury and Sanjay Budhia among other businessmen will also accompany Mamamta during her visit to Bangladesh as part of the delegation to meet with Bangladeshi traders. Indo-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Indian Chamber of Commerce have organized the meeting.
